The sultry night couldn’t keep the singletons away from Nasimi Beach at Atlantis Hotel, as on Wednesday night, the well-groomed beach on teemed with well-heeled members of Crest of Dubai for this month’s Mars/Venus event. Tiki torches flickered; the DJ played ambient music; and waiters worked their way through the crowd with trays of complimentary tropical drinks. Housemates and co-hosts, Christian and Janie, outdid themselves this time. The previous Mars/Venus event was held at Veda, the stylish restaurant in Al Nafura, where around two hundred people partied that night away; aided by complimentary champagne; but on Nasimi Beach attracted well over 300 members who came to indulge in minty mojitos and tart caipirinhas.

They have high hopes for future events; Christian said “We want it to be bigger and better each time.” Janie agreed, “There are a number of new venues that we are looking at and it’s great to get such a good crowd together on a regular basis.”

With the stunning Atlantis Hotel as a picture-perfect backdrop and the water lapping a few yards away, it’s hard to imagine a bigger and better place than Nasimi, the girls lounged on lush bean bags; the boys smoked scented a shisha; and each frivolously flirted with the other. Old friends reunited whilst new ones were formed, but best of all was the openness of everyone there as once again the Palm community through Crest of Dubai gelled together.

Those who came in groups welcomed perfect strangers unto their midst; those who came alone soon connected with friends or quickly befriended someone new over mojito’s and ambient music. It was a fun crowd of youngsters in their 20s, hipsters in their 30’s, hotties in their 40’s and beyond. A mix of youth and experience blending incredibly well together, which is unusual for this town and this type of party. The venue was incredible, the drinks were strong, and the canapés were tasty, but the people made the night. Let the planets align!
